Alas, I seem to have sold or given away some pieces without keeping pictures, but here is a partial gallery. This is a work in progress, so please check back.

Punch needle embroidery, 2023. Design is copyright to me. Punched on weavers cloth using an UltraPunch needle set at #2 and Valdani cotton + 100% wool threads (sock wool weight). I first heard this quote years ago and always wanted to either make it into a rug or else embroider it (punching). Since I'm out of floor space, I chose punch needle.
(2023) Punch needle embroidery, 2023. 16.5" x 9.5". The pattern is called "Green Mountain Gala," and is ©2022 to the Old Tattered Flag. They offer both a pattern and a pre-planned kit, but I opted for just the pattern and used my own color plan with variegated sock yarns and lace weight yarns in the UltraPunch medium needle set on #2. With 2 painted wooden buttons added.
"E's Rug Runner." Designed by Elizabeth Stagle and used by permission (design is copyright to her and not available as a pattern). Color planned and punched by me using an UltraPunch medium needle set on #2 using a variety of Koigu and other wool sock and fingering yarns, plus some crochet cotton. 2022. 19 1/4 x 9 1/4". I first saw this design at E's house--she punched a gorgeous rug years ago, having adapted this from art seen in her travels in--I think--South Africa. I was able to get her permission to hook it myself and did this punch needle embroidery as a prototype. I'm now hooking the rug myself in a totally different set of colors, but may not get that finished in 2022 as other projects may have to take precedence.
ELKSONG. Completed in 2018. Designed by Rob McClellan. Design is ©2018 to University Silkscreen, Norman, OK, all rights reserved. This "Spirit Elk" design is from a very old t-shirt I bought years ago (just the same with both photos beneath this one--two other t-shirts). I punched it using an UltraPunch medium tip set on #2, with fingering weight wool yarn and size 11 seed beads embrodered onto the animal and the sky. The image was created by Rob McClellan, an artist who lived in Ohio in the late 20th century. He died around 2005. A fascinating man, he was adopted by the Cheyenne Tribe and much of his art reflects that. I was granted permission to use his t-shirt images by University Silkscreen. A big thank you to them!
MIDNIGHT PONY. Completed in 2018. Designed by Rob McClellan. Design is ©2018 to University Silkscreen, Norman, OK, all rights reserved. This "Spirit Horse" design is from a very old t-shirt I bought years ago (just the same with the photo beneath this one--another t-shirt!). I punched it using an UltraPunch medium tip set on #2, with fingering weight wool yarn. The image was created by Rob McClellan, an artist who lived in Ohio in the late 20th century. He died around 2005. A fascinating man, he was adopted by the Cheyenne Tribe and much of his art reflects that. I was granted permission to use his t-shirt images by University Silkscreen. REDWING BLACKBIRD. Completed in 2018. Designed by Rob McClellan. Design is ©2018 to University Silkscreen, Norman, OK, all rights reserved. This redwing blackbird design is from a very old t-shirt I bought years ago. I punched it using an UltraPunch medium tip set on #2, with both wool and cotton threads.
2018. About 10" square, punched with Valdani thread, size 8, doubled in an UltraPunch needle, medium tip, set at #1. This design is copyrighted by Jule Thomas of theoldtatteredflag.com - she is one of my favorite designers. I added a white cord around the edge (not shown in this photo), attached it to a same-sized light piece of wood, and have it hanging in my home.
2016. This piece (right side up on the left, upside down on the right) is a joke-present for my dear friend and teacher Amy, based on one of her wonderful "example stories" she tells frequently to her students as a way of helping them learn to work with a punch.
Circa 2011. This is a very small, perhaps 2" x 3", punch needle embroidery I did as a gift for a valued friend who was leaving town. It was a kit, not designed by me. One of my favorite things about it is that the frame was entirely made by my fabulous friend Paula Garbarino, a master woodworker and artist.
