ZENTANGLE®

Zentangle® is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns.
Think you haven't got an artistic bone in your body?  If you can hold a pen to write your name (even if your handwriting isn't legible), you can learn Zentangle.  The process is incredibly easy, making it both absorbing and calming.

For more information about upcoming Zentangle classes, see the schedule at the bottom of the page.
The Zentangle® method was created by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas in 2004.  It's the method of teaching/learning that is registered--the patterns themselves cannot be copyrighted.  Zentangle is increasingly used in workplaces, schools, retreat settings, in hospitals and healthcare, and at home, to foster mindfulness and relaxation.  It is also used for team-building at work sites.  It can be done in small, short intervals at work or at home to relax and re-focus in stressful situations.
Almost anyone can use it to create beautiful images. It increases focus and creativity, provides artistic satisfaction along with an increased sense of personal well being. The Zentangle Method is enjoyed all over this world across a wide range of skills, interests and ages.

We believe that life is an art form and that our Zentangle Method is an elegant metaphor for deliberate artistry in life.                                    -- Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas (on their website)

There are three ways to take a beginning class from me:
  1. Take a Beginning Class:  I'm always looking for a good venue, so if you know of one, let me know!  Or see the other 2 options below.

  2. Schedule a private (one to one) Zentangle class with me, use the contact information below.  ($60, materials included)

    3. Schedule a small group at-home class:  I will also teach a small group of  your friends in your home if you have enough space, and in exchange, you will get the class for free if you can guarantee at least 4 other students.                 ($35 per student, materials included)

Here are the results of a 12-person class I taught to a team at their work site several years ago.  All these people told me they couldn't draw before we began; all of them were astonished by these results.

This wonderful zendala (Zentangle + mandala pattern) was one I learned in Dr. Meredith Yuhas's Mandala workshop. Thanks, Merry.
